2424 AN ACT CONCERNING LEAVE FOR STATE EMPLOYEES ASSISTING IN A CIVIL PREPAREDNESS EMERGENCY.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. Section 5-249 of the general statutes is amended by adding subsection (f) as follows (Effective October 1, 2017):

3030 (NEW) (f) Any state employee who is a volunteer of a local organization for civil preparedness, established pursuant to section 28-7, may, with the authorization of such employee's supervisor, be granted a leave not to exceed fifteen working days in each year to assist in a civil preparedness emergency or local civil preparedness emergency, upon the request of the local chief executive authority, the Governor or the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection and in accordance with the provisions of section 28-7, without loss of pay, vacation time, sick leave or earned overtime accumulation. For the purposes of this subsection, "civil preparedness emergency" and "local civil preparedness emergency" have the same meaning as provided in section 28-1.
