AN ACT CONCERNING GRANDPARENT VISITATION WITH A MINOR CHILD.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 46b-59 of the general statutes be amended to allow a grandparent visitation with a minor child if: (1) A parentlike relationship exists between the person and minor child and denial of visitation would cause real and significant harm; or (2) the court finds by clear and convincing evidence that there are compelling circumstances to overcome the presumption that the parental decision is in the child's best interest. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To allow a grandparent visitation with a minor child if: (1) A parentlike relationship exists between the person and minor child and denial of visitation would cause real and significant harm; or (2) the court finds by clear and convincing evidence that there are compelling circumstances to overcome the presumption that the parental decision is in the child's best interest.
