AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE CHILD WELFARE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to establish the Child Welfare Oversight Committee to: (1) Evaluate and make recommendations regarding child welfare system policies impacting all children who are, or at risk of being, in the care, custody or supervision of the Department of Children and Families; (2) evaluate and make recommendations regarding policies impacting families struggling to meet the needs of their children; and (3) improve safety and wellbeing outcomes for children in the child welfare system; and that the sum of fifty thousand dollars be appropriated to the Office of Policy and Management, from the General Fund, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018, for the purpose of providing staff to support data analysis and improve outcomes for children.
Statement of Purpose:
To establish the Child Welfare Oversight Committee.
