AN ACT REQUIRING THAT INSURERS OFFER ADDITIONAL COVERAGE TO INSUREDS AND PROSPECTIVE INSUREDS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 700 of the general statutes be amended to require any insurer that delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or endorses a homeowners insurance policy in this state to (1) offer coverage to any insured or prospective insured for costs incurred in bringing a residential dwelling into compliance with any applicable code or regulation following renovation, addition or alteration of such residential dwelling, and (2) provide written notice to each insured or prospective insured indicating that such coverage is available. Statement of Purpose: To require insurers to offer coverage for costs incurred in bringing a residential dwelling into compliance with any applicable code or regulation following renovation, addition or alteration of such dwelling and inform each insured or prospective insured that such coverage is available.
