AN ACT CONCERNING PATRONIZATION OF A PROSTITUTE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 53a-83 of the general statutes be amended to increase the penalty for patronizing a prostitute to a class C felony, except in the case of a victim who is a child or a trafficked person, in which case the penalty shall increase to a class B felony; and to amend chapter 969 of the general statutes to provide that any person convicted of patronizing a prostitute more than once be required to register on the sexual offender registry. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To increase the penalties for patronizing a prostitute.
