AN ACT CONCERNING THE RESIGNATION OR RETIREMENT OF A POLICE OFFICER UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR SERIOUS MISCONDUCT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to prohibit the Division of State Police within the Department of Emergency Services and Police Protection and a municipal police department from accepting the resignation or retirement of a state or municipal police officer if such officer is under investigation for serious misconduct that calls into question such officer's fitness to serve as a police officer. 

Statement of Purpose:
