AN ACT CONCERNING REVISIONS TO THE COMPLAINT RESOLUTION PROCESS WITHIN THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 814c of the general statutes be amended to require the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities to: (1) Address data limitations that impede the tracking and processing of complaints filed with the commission, (2) improve reporting to the General Assembly and the Governor on the performance of all divisions within the commission, (3) implement a complaint tracking system that ensures all statutory time frames for the processing of complaints are met, (4) implement uniform complaint processing procedures, (5) implement measures that separate housing discrimination complaints from all other complaints filed with the commission, and (6) add an independent mediator for the resolution of complaints.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide for a more efficient and effective complaint resolution process within the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.
