1224 AN ACT CONCERNING THE RESALE OF GIFT CERTIFICATES OBTAINED BY EXCHANGING STOLEN MERCHANDISE.

1426 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

16-Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2017) (a) No person who operates a retail establishment that sells groceries or employee of such establishment may purchase a gift certificate from a secondary market source. For purposes of this section, "gift certificate" means gift certificate as defined in section 3-56a of the general statutes, and "secondary market source" means a person who sells or resells a gift certificate obtained through the exchange of merchandise with a retail establishment without a receipt for proof of purchase of such merchandise.
