AN ACT ALLOWING ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES TO CONCLUDE THAT A PERSON HAS PSYCHIATRIC DISABILITIES AND IS DANGEROUS TO HIMSELF OR HERSELF OR OTHERS FOR PURPOSES OF CONFINEMENT IN A HOSPITAL FOR PSYCHIATRIC DISABILITIES UNDER AN EMERGENCY CERTIFICATE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 17a-502 of the general statutes be amended to allow an advanced practice registered nurse to conclude that a person has psychiatric disabilities and is dangerous to himself or herself or others for purposes of confining such person in a hospital for psychiatric disabilities under an emergency certificate.

Statement of Purpose: 

To allow advanced practice registered nurses to conclude that a person has psychiatric disabilities and is dangerous to himself or herself or others for purposes of confinement to a hospital for psychiatric disabilities under an emergency certificate.
