AN ACT ESTABLISHING A TAX DEDUCTION FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO GRADUATE FROM INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE STATE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to establish a tax deduction, which mirrors the federal student loan interest deduction, for interest payments made on student loans for individuals who graduate from any institution of higher education in the state.

Statement of Purpose: 

To establish a tax deduction for interest payments made on student loans for individuals who graduate from any institution of higher education in the state.
