AN ACT EXPANDING SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEDICAID RECIPIENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Social Services to apply for a Medicaid waiver under Section 1115 of the Social Security Act to expand treatment options for substance abusers to include mental health facilities of more than sixteen beds.

Statement of Purpose: 

To maximize federal dollars for expanded treatment options for Medicaid recipients in need of substance abuse and mental health treatment.
