AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF EQUINE THERAPY ON VETERANS SUFFERING FROM POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective from passage) The Commissioner of Veterans Affairs, in consultation with the Commissioner of Mental Health and Addiction Services, may conduct a study on the effects of equine therapy on veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, which study shall also identify equine therapy programs, services or other resources in the state available to such veterans. The commissioners shall report, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, the findings of such study to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to public health and veterans' and military affairs on or before January 1, 2018.

Statement of Purpose: 

To permit the Commissioner of Veterans Affairs and the Commissioner of Mental Health and Addiction Services to study the effects of equine therapy on veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and identify programs, services or other resources in the state related to such therapy.
