AN ACT REQUIRING CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESPERSONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2017) Any person who is employed as a door-to-door salesperson shall, prior to the commencement of such employment in this state, at his or her own expense, submit to a criminal background check and thereafter submit the results of such background check to the Department of Consumer Protection.

Statement of Purpose: 

To require criminal background checks for door-to-door salespersons prior to the commencement of their employment in this state.
