2424 AN ACT CONCERNING OCCUPATIONAL LICENSING FOR MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES, VETERANS AND THEIR SPOUSES.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2017) (a) Notwithstanding any provision of the general statutes, the Commissioner of Consumer Protection may, in the commissioner's discretion, issue any license, registration or certificate within the jurisdiction of any board or commission within the Department of Consumer Protection as provided in section 21a-6 of the general statutes, except any license, registration or certificate issued pursuant to title 30 of the general statutes, to any member of the armed forces, veteran or the spouse of any such member or veteran, which member, veteran or spouse is the holder of a similar license, registration or certificate issued in another licensure jurisdiction. The commissioner, in exercising such discretion, may undertake an evaluation of the requirements of the issuing authority in such other licensure jurisdiction for any such similar license, registration or certificate.

3030 (b) Notwithstanding any provision of the general statutes, the commissioner may waive any fee for any such license, registration or certificate issued in this state to any member of the armed forces, veteran or the spouse of any such member or veteran, which member, veteran or spouse is the holder of a similar license, registration or certificate issued in another licensure jurisdiction, provided for any member of the armed forces, veteran or the spouse of any such member or veteran, which member, veteran or spouse is the holder of a license, registration or certificate issued in this state, the issuing authority in such other licensure jurisdiction waives the requirements for any similar license, registration or certificate issued in such other licensure jurisdiction.

3232 (c) As used in this section, "armed forces" and "veteran" have the same meanings as provided in subsection (a) of section 27-103 of the general statutes.

5050 To (1) grant the Commissioner of Consumer Protection discretion in the issuance of certain licenses, registrations or certificates to members of the armed forces, veterans and their spouses who hold similar licenses, registrations or certificates in other licensure jurisdictions, and (2) allow the commissioner to waive any fee for such licenses, registrations or certificates issued in this state if such other licensure jurisdiction waives the requirements for issuance of such similar licenses, registrations or certificates to members of the armed forces, veterans and their spouses who hold such licenses, registrations or certificates in this state.
