AN ACT CONCERNING EMPLOYMENT APPLICATIONS OF MILITARY SPOUSES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2018) (a) As used in this section:

(1) "Applicant" means any person actively seeking employment from an employer;

(2) "Armed forces" has the same meaning as provided in section 27-103 of the general statutes;

(3) "Employer" means any person engaged in business who has one or more employees, including the state or any political subdivision of the state; and

(4) "Spouse" means a husband or wife, as the case may be.

(b) Each employer shall include on any employment application form utilized by such employer a section permitting an applicant to identify himself or herself as the spouse of a member of the armed forces.

 


This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose: 

To afford military spouses the opportunity to identify themselves as such on employment applications.
