AN ACT REQUIRING A REVIEW OF DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONS AND A PATIENT EVALUATION UPON TRANSFER OF A PATIENT FROM A HOSPITAL TO A NURSING HOME. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require a physician, 1 advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant employed by 2 a nursing home to evaluate a patient and review the patient's 3 discharge instructions not later than seventy-two hours after the 4 patient was discharged from a hospital and admitted to the nursing 5 home. 6 Statement of Purpose: To prevent additional deaths of nursing home patients following their discharge from a hospital.
