20	19		AN ACT CONCERNING TH E PURCHASE OF BODY ARM OR BY
21	20		FIREFIGHTERS, FIRE DEPARTMENTS, EMERGENC Y SERVICES
22	21		PERSONNEL AND EMERGE NCY MEDICAL SERVICE
23	22		ORGANIZATIONS.
24	23		Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
25	24		Assembly convened:

27	26		Section 1. Subsection (b) of section 53-341b of the general statutes is 1
28	27		repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective 2
29	28		October 1, 2019): 3
30	29		(b) The provisions of subsection (a) of this section shall not apply to 4
31	30		the sale or delivery of body armor to (1) a sworn member or 5
32	31		authorized official of an organized local police department, the 6
33	32		Division of State Police within the Department of Emergency Services 7
34	33		and Public Protection, the Division of Criminal Justice, the Department 8
35	34		of Correction, the Board of Pardons and Paroles or the Department of 9
36	35		Motor Vehicles, (2) an authorized official of a municipality or the 10
37	36		Department of Administrative Services that purchases body armor on 11
38	37		behalf of an organized local police department, the Division of State 12
39	38		Police within the Department of Emergency Services and Public 13

47	45		Correction, the Board of Pardons and Paroles or the Department of 15
48	46		Motor Vehicles, (3) an authorized official of the Judicial Branch who 16
49	47		purchases body armor on behalf of a probation officer or a judicial 17
50	48		marshal, [or] (4) a member of the National Guard or the armed forces 18
51	49		reserve, (5) a firefighter or an authorized official of a municipal fire 19
52	50		department or volunteer fire company, or (6) an advanced emergency 20
53	51		medical technician, as defined in section 20-206jj, an emergency 21
54	52		medical responder, as defined in section 20-206jj, an emergency 22
55	53		medical technician, as defined in section 20-206jj, a paramedic, as 23
56	54		defined in section 20-206jj, or an authorized official of an emergency 24
57	55		medical service organization licensed or certified pursuant to chapter 25
58	56		368d. 26
59	57		This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
