AN ACT PROHIBITING THE LENDER OF A HOME EQUITY LOAN
FROM SEEKING A DEFICIENCY JUDGMENT AGAINST CERTAIN
BORROWERS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That chapter 846 of general statutes be amended to prohibit the 1
lender of a home equity loan from seeking a deficiency judgment 2
against the borrower of such loan where the foundation of the 3
property securing the loan is crumbling due to the presence of 4
pyrrhotite. 5
Statement of Purpose:
To protect homeowners with crumbling foundations from a deficiency
judgment on a home equity loan.
