2121 AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEFENSE OF A PERSON'S HOME.
2222 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2323 Assembly convened:

2525 That section 53a-20 of the general statutes be amended to provide 1
2626 that if a person believes that deadly physical force is necessary to 2
2727 prevent or terminate an unlawful entry by force into such person's 3
2828 dwelling or to prevent the commission of arson or a crime of violence 4
2929 by a trespasser, there shall be a rebuttable presumption that such belief 5
3030 was a reasonable belief. 6
3131 Statement of Purpose:
3232 To fully adopt the "castle doctrine" by establishing a rebuttable
3333 presumption that when a homeowner believes it necessary to use
3434 deadly force to repel an intruder then that belief is a reasonable belief.
