AN ACT EXCLUDING CERTAIN ACTIVITIES FROM THE DEFINITION OF MASSAGE THERAPY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 20-206a of the general statutes be amended to revise the 1 definition of massage therapy to exclude bodywork involving stroking 2 of the hands, feet or ears or the use of touch, words and directed 3 movement, including healing touch, therapeutic touch, mind-body 4 centering, ortho-bionomy, traeger therapy, reflexology, polarity 5 therapy, reiki, qigong, muscle activation techniques or other practices 6 with the primary purpose of affecting energy systems of the human 7 body. 8 Statement of Purpose: To redefine massage therapy to exclude certain activities from those requiring licensure.
