20	20	AN ACT CONCERNING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR
21	21	PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS.
22	22	Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
23	23	Assembly convened:

25	25	That chapter 700c of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1
26	26	no insurer, health care center, hospital service corporation, medical 2
27	27	service corporation, fraternal benefit society or other entity that 3
28	28	delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or continues a health 4
29	29	insurance policy in this state that includes prescription drug coverage 5
30	30	shall require that a health care provider prescribe a specific quantity of 6
31	31	a psychotropic medication if such quantity exceeds the quantity that 7
32	32	the provider deems appropriate. 8
33	33	Statement of Purpose:
34	34	To provide that no insurer, health care center, hospital service
35	35	corporation, medical service corporation, fraternal benefit society or
36	36	other entity that delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or
37	37	continues a health insurance policy in this state that includes
38	38	prescription drug coverage shall require that a health care provider
39	39	prescribe a specific quantity of a psychotropic medication if such
40	40	quantity exceeds the quantity that the provider deems appropriate.
