AN ACT EXPANDING ACCESS TO OPIOID ANTAGONISTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require (1) licensed 1 pharmacists to dispense naloxone hydrochloride or any other opioid 2 antagonist approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration 3 without a patient-specific prescription for the treatment or prevention 4 of an opioid-related drug overdose to any individual, including a 5 family member or any other individual capable of assisting a person at 6 risk of an opioid-related drug overdose, and (2) all pharmacies in the 7 state to maintain a continuous and sufficient supply of naloxone 8 hydrochloride or any other opioid antagonist approved by the federal 9 Food and Drug Administration to meet the need of the community. 10 Statement of Purpose: To allow public access to opioid antagonists without a prescription when a person is at risk of an opioid-related drug overdose.
