| 20 | 20 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General |

| 23 | 23 | | That section 17a-218 of the general statutes be amended to provide 1 |

| 24 | 24 | | that the Department of Developmental Services shall (1) deliver direct 2 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | subsidies for respite care services seven days per week or at the rate at 3 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | which such subsidy is delivered as of January, 1, 2019, (2) give 4 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | preference for respite care services to persons who have not received 5 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | such services and persons in need of emergency placement, (3) provide 6 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | additional respite care services based on the geographical need of 7 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | families who are waiting to receive such services from the department, 8 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (4) develop a staffing plan to ensure that respite care services are 9 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | available during high demand periods, (5) not later than July 1, 2019, 10 |

| 33 | 33 | | provide training to persons receiving respite care services in areas 11 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | including, but not limited to, self-care, activities of daily living and 12 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | personal and social adjustment, and (6) provide in-home support 13 |

| 36 | 36 | | services to persons or families who are waiting to receive services from 14 |
