2322 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2625 Section 1. Section 9-250 of the general statutes is repealed and the 1
2726 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2019): 2
2827 Ballots shall be furnished by the registrar of voters and shall be 3
2928 printed (1) in plain clear type, and (2) on material of such size as will 4
3029 fit the tabulator [, and shall be furnished by the registrar of voters] and, 5
3130 in the case of ballots used at a single polling place designated to serve 6
3231 multiple voting districts, of such color as to differentiate the ballots for 7
3332 each voting district from the ballots for each other voting district. The 8
3433 size and style of the type used to print the name of a political party on 9
3534 a ballot shall be identical with the size and style of the type used to 10
3635 print the names of all other political parties appearing on such ballot. 11
3736 The name of each major party candidate for a municipal office, as 12
3837 defined in section 9-372, except for the municipal offices of state 13

4745 for a state or district office, as defined in section 9-372, or for the 16
4846 municipal office of state senator or state representative shall appear on 17
4947 the ballot as it appears on the certificate or statement of consent filed 18
5048 under section 9-388, subsection (b) of section 9-391, or section 9-400 or 19
5149 9-409. The name of each minor party candidate shall appear on the 20
5250 ballot as authorized by each candidate. The name of each nominating 21
5351 petition candidate shall appear on the ballot as it is verified by the 22
5452 town clerk on the application filed under section 9-453b. The size and 23
5553 style of the type used to print the name of a candidate on a ballot shall 24
5654 be identical with the size and style of the type used to print the names 25
5755 of all other candidates appearing on such ballot. Such ballot shall 26
5856 contain the names of the offices and the names of the candidates 27
5957 arranged thereon. The names of the political parties and party 28
6058 designations shall be arranged on the ballots and followed by the word 29
6159 "party", either in columns or horizontal rows as set forth in section 9-30
6260 249a, immediately adjacent to the column or row occupied by the 31
6361 candidate or candidates of such political party or organization. The 32
6462 ballot shall be printed in such manner as to indicate how many 33
6563 candidates the elector may vote for each office, provided in the case of 34
6664 a town adopting the provisions of section 9-204a, such ballot shall 35
6765 indicate the maximum number of candidates who may be elected to 36
6866 such office from any party. If two or more candidates are to be elected 37
6967 to the same office for different terms, the term for which each is 38
7068 nominated shall be printed on the official ballot as a part of the title of 39
7169 the office. If, at any election, one candidate is to be elected for a full 40
7270 term and another to fill a vacancy, the official ballot containing the 41
7371 names of the candidates in the foregoing order shall, as a part of the 42
7472 title of the office, designate the term which such candidates are 43
7573 severally nominated to fill. No column, under the name of any political 44
7674 party or independent organization, shall be printed on any official 45
7775 ballot, which contains more candidates for any office than the number 46
