AN ACT PROHIBITING GRANTS UNDER THE CITIZENS' ELECTION
PROGRAM TO CANDIDATES WITHOUT ANY OPPONENT.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That chapter 157 of the general statutes be amended to (1) prohibit 1
the candidate committee of any candidate for nomination or election 2
who does not have an opponent from receiving a grant under the 3
Citizens' Election Program, and (2) credit to the resources of the 4
General Fund any such grant that would have been paid if such 5
candidate had an opponent. 6
Statement of Purpose:
To prohibit the granting of funds under the Citizens' Election Program
to unopposed candidates.
