AN ACT MODIFYING REQUIRED HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE 
FOR DETOXIFICATION. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That sections 38a-492p and 38a-518p of the general statutes be 1 
amended to require health insurance coverage for (1) not more than 2 
seven days of detoxification per admission, (2) not fewer than four 3 
admissions for inpatient detoxification per lifetime, (3) not fewer than 4 
thirty days of residential treatment services during any year, (4) not 5 
fewer than ninety days of nonhospital residential treatment services 6 
per lifetime, (5) not fewer than thirty sessions of outpatient or partial 7 
hospitalization services during any year, (6) not fewer than one 8 
hundred twenty sessions of outpatient or partial hospitalization 9 
services per lifetime, (7) family counseling and intervention services, 10 
and (8) not fewer than thirty additional outpatient or partial 11 
hospitalization sessions per lifetime, which may be exchanged on a 12 
two-to-one basis to provide fifteen additional nonhospital residential 13 
treatment days. 14 
Statement of Purpose:   
To modify required health insurance coverage for detoxification.
