2019 AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF THE STATE'S LONG-TERM
2120 CARE NEEDS.
2221 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2524 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Commissioner of Social 1
2625 Services shall conduct a study of the state's long-term care needs to 2
2726 determine whether existing programs and strategies are sufficient. 3
2827 (b) The study shall include, but need not be limited to: (1) For 4
2928 calendar year 2018, the number of state residents who were sixty-five 5
3029 years of age or older; (2) for calendar year 2022, the projected number 6
3130 of state residents who will be sixty-five years of age or older; (3) for 7
3231 calendar year 2018, the number of state residents with disabilities who 8
3332 required long-term care; (4) for calendar year 2022, the projected 9
3433 number of state residents with disabilities who will require long-term 10
3534 care; (5) for calendar years 2013 to 2018, inclusive, the number of 11
3635 residents removed from institutionalized settings to home and 12
3736 community-based settings under the Money Follows the Person 13
3837 demonstration project established pursuant to section 17b-369 of the 14
39-general statutes; (6) for calendar years 2013 to 2018, inclusive, the 15
40-savings realized in state expenditures on long-term care related to the 16 Raised Bill No. 6175

5048 (c) Not later than July 1, 2020, the Commissioner of Social Services, 20
5149 in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general 21
5250 statutes, shall report the results of the study done pursuant to 22
5351 subsections (a) and (b) of this section to the joint standing committees 23
5452 of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to 24
5553 aging and human services. Such report may include the 25
5654 commissioner's recommendations for addressing identified gaps in the 26
5755 provision of long-term care and improving access to such long-term 27
5856 care. 28
