AN ACT CONCERNING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A WAITING 
PERIOD FOR A FORMER MEMBER OF THE CONNECTICUT 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO BECOME A JUDGE. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 51-44a of the general statutes be amended to provide 1 
that the Judicial Selection Commission shall not add the name of a 2 
former member of the General Assembly to the list of names that the 3 
Governor may consider when nominating an individual to become a 4 
judge, unless three years have passed since the date on which the 5 
former member last served in the General Assembly.  6 
Statement of Purpose:   
To avoid a revolving door between the legislative and judicial 
branches of state government.
