AN ACT PROVIDING AN EXEMPTION FROM JURY DUTY TO A VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 884 of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1 a volunteer firefighter may claim an exemption from jury duty 2 provided such volunteer firefighter produces written documentation 3 signed by his or her local fire chief that confirms that the volunteer 4 firefighter's exemption from jury service is required in order ensure the 5 safety of the community. 6 Statement of Purpose: To ensure that necessary volunteer personnel are available to serve their community by providing a volunteer firefighter with an exemption from jury duty.
