1818 AN ACT CONCERNING LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT FOR DEAF AND
1919 HARD OF HEARING CHILDREN.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That the general statutes be amended to (1) ensure that the 1
2424 Department of Public Health, Office of Early Childhood and 2
2525 Department of Education collect and share data to ensure that deaf, 3
2626 hard of hearing and deaf-blind students have the necessary language 4
2727 skills to acquire knowledge that will allow them to be successful in 5
2828 school and after graduation, (2) establish a working group on language 6
2929 assessment within the Department of Education to advise agencies on 7
3030 appropriate language assessments, practices and programs, and (3) 8
3131 ensure that interventions happen immediately if a student does not 9
3232 demonstrate progress in age-appropriate expressive and receptive 10
3333 language skills. 11
3434 Statement of Purpose:
3535 To identify, assess and monitor the progress of deaf, hard of hearing
3636 and deaf-blind children from the time of identification of hearing
3737 levels through high school.
