AN ACT CONCERNING THE SOURCING OF PETS SOLD IN PET 
STORES. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to prohibit owners of pet 1 
stores from selling cats, dogs or rabbits that have not been sourced 2 
from a public animal welfare agency or shelter or animal welfare 3 
organization that has a contractual agreement with at least one such 4 
public animal welfare shelter.  5 
Statement of Purpose:   
To create certainty as to the origin of animals sold in pet stores and 
provide shelter animals with a better opportunity to find a permanent 
home.
