AN ACT CONCERNING MEDICAID, MEDICARE AND HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to provide that Medicaid, 1 Medicare and no insurer, health care center, hospital service 2 corporation, medical service corporation, fraternal benefit society or 3 other entity that delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or 4 continues a health insurance policy in this state that includes 5 prescription drug coverage shall require that a health care provider 6 prescribe a specific quantity of a psychotropic medication if such 7 quantity exceeds the quantity that the provider deems appropriate. 8 Statement of Purpose: To provide that Medicaid, Medicare and no insurer, health care center, hospital service corporation, medical service corporation, fraternal benefit society or other entity that delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or continues a health insurance policy in this state that includes prescription drug coverage shall require that a health care provider prescribe a specific quantity of a psychotropic medication if such quantity exceeds the quantity that the provider deems appropriate.
