SANTIAGO E., 130th Dist. AN ACT INCREASING THE PENALTIES FOR NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE WITH A MOTOR VEHICLE AND ILLEGAL RACING. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 14-222 of the general statutes be amended to increase 1 the penalty for negligent homicide with a motor vehicle to a fine of not 2 more than three thousand five hundred dollars or imprisonment of not 3 more than three years or both, and that section 14-224 of the general 4 statutes be amended to increase the penalty for a first offense of illegal 5 racing to a fine of not less than one hundred fifty dollars or more than 6 six hundred dollars or imprisonment of not more than a year or both 7 and mandatory completion of fifteen hours of a reckless aggressive 8 driving class, and in the case of any subsequent offense of illegal 9 racing, to a fine of not less than three hundred dollars or more than 10 one thousand dollars or imprisonment of not more than a year or both, 11 mandatory completion of fifteen hours of a reckless aggressive driving 12 class and a sixty-day suspension of such person's motor vehicle 13 operating license. 14 Proposed Bill No. 6720 LCO No. 3391 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To increase the criminal penalties associated with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and illegal racing.
