Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) (a) As used in this section, 1 (1) "nursing home facility" means a chronic and convalescent nursing 2 home, and (2) "nursing staff" means registered and licensed practical 3 nurses licensed pursuant to chapter 378 of the general statutes and 4 nurse's aides registered pursuant to chapter 378a of the general 5 statutes. 6 (b) On and after October 1, 2019, each nursing home facility shall 7 have sufficient nursing staff available on site to maintain a daily 8 minimum staffing ratio of not less than three direct care nursing staff 9 hours per resident per day. 10 (c) The Commissioner of Public Health shall adopt or amend 11 regulations, in accordance with the provisions of chapter 54 of the 12 general statutes, to implement the provisions of this section.
