1919 AN ACT CONCERNING AC CESS BY NURSING HOME RESIDEN TS TO
2020 COMMUNITY TRANSPORTA TION.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2424 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2019) For purposes of this section, 1
2525 "provider of public transportation" means any motor bus, taxicab or 2
2626 motor vehicle in livery service regulated by the Commissioner of 3
2727 Transportation pursuant to title 13b of the general statutes or any 4
2828 municipally operated vehicle that serves elderly persons or persons 5
2929 with disabilities. No provider of public transportation with a route 6
3030 serving an area that includes a nursing home, as defined in section 19a-7
3131 490 of the general statutes, shall refuse to provide a resident of a 8
3232 nursing home with transportation or limit destination choices within 9
3333 their routes for such resident, provided (1) the nursing home resident 10
3434 provides a current certification signed by a health care professional 11
3535 licensed pursuant to chapter 370 of the general statutes that travel 12
3636 outside of the nursing home is not medically contraindicated for the 13
3737 resident, (2) the provider of public transportation has a vehicle 14
3838 equipped to serve the transportation needs of nursing home residents 15
3939 with physical disabilities, and (3) the nursing home resident pays any 16 Raised Bill No. 7234

4545 reasonable fare set by the provider of public transportation. 17
4646 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
