1919 AN ACT CONCERNING HO MEOWNERS INSURANCE POLICIES AND
2020 COVERAGE FOR THE PER IL OF COLLAPSE.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2222 Assembly convened:

2424 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2019) Each insurance company 1
2525 that delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or endorses a 2
2626 homeowners insurance policy in this state on or after October 1, 2019, 3
2727 shall provide coverage for: 4
2828 (1) The peril of collapse, which shall include, but not be limited to, 5
2929 impairment of the structural integrity of all or part of the covered 6
3030 dwelling, where such impairment arises from factors including, but 7
3131 not limited to, (A) decay of a building, or any part of a building that is 8
3232 hidden from view, or (B) defective materials or construction methods 9
3333 used in the construction or renovation of a building or any part of a 10
3434 building; and 11
3535 (2) Mitigation that is undertaken to prevent all or part of the 12

4848 To require homeowners insurance policies to provide coverage for the
4949 peril of collapse and mitigation undertaken to prevent all or part of the
