1119 AN ACT CONCERNING UR BAN AND RURAL WORKFORCE

1321 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
1422 Assembly convened:

16-Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) The Commissioner of Labor, 1
17-in consultation with the State Treasurer, shall establish and administer 2
18-a grant program for eligible minority business enterprises, as defined 3
19-in section 4a-60g of the general statutes, that are located in distressed 4
20-municipalities, as defined in section 32-9p of the general statutes, for 5
21-the purposes of developing and increasing the workforce in such 6
22-distressed municipalities. An eligible minority business enterprise may 7
23-apply to the Labor Commissioner for a grant from such program at 8
24-such time and in such manner as the Labor Commissioner prescribes. 9
25-Such grants may be used by such minority business enterprises to 10
26-establish work-based educational programs in collaboration with local 11
27-and regional boards of education. 12
