1919 AN ACT EXEMPTING SEN IOR CITIZENS AND VETERANS FROM TH E
2020 PASSPORT TO THE PARK S MOTOR VEHICLE REGI STRATION FEE.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2424 Section 1. Section 14-49b of the general statutes is repealed and the 1
2525 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2019): 2
2626 (a) For each new registration or renewal of registration of any motor 3
2727 vehicle with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles pursuant to this 4
2828 chapter, the person registering such vehicle shall pay to the 5
2929 commissioner a fee of ten dollars for registration for a biennial period 6
3030 and five dollars for registration for an annual period, except that any 7
3131 individual who is sixty-five years of age or older on or after January 1, 8
3232 1994, may, at the discretion of such individual, pay the fee for either a 9
3333 one-year or two-year period. The provisions of this subsection shall 10
3434 not apply to any motor vehicle that is not self-propelled, that is 11
3535 electrically powered, or that is exempted from payment of a 12
3636 registration fee. This fee may be identified as the "federal Clean Air Act 13
3737 fee" on any registration form provided by the commissioner. Payments 14

4444 deposited as follows: (1) Fifty-seven and one-half per cent of such 16
4545 payments collected shall be deposited into the Special Transportation 17
4646 Fund established pursuant to section 13b-68, and (2) forty-two and 18
4747 one-half per cent of such payments collected shall be deposited into 19
4848 the General Fund. The fee required by this subsection is in addition to 20
4949 any other fees prescribed by any other provision of this title for the 21
5050 registration of a motor vehicle. No part of the federal Clean Air Act fee 22
5151 shall be subject to a refund under subsection (aa) of section 14-49. 23
5252 (b) For each new registration or renewal of registration of any motor 24
5353 vehicle with the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles pursuant to this 25
5454 chapter, the person registering such vehicle shall pay to the 26
5555 commissioner a fee of ten dollars for registration for a biennial period 27
5656 for the following registration types: Passenger, motorcycle, motor 28
5757 home, combination or antique. Any person who is sixty-five years or 29
5858 older [and who obtains a one-year registration renewal under section 30
5959 14-49 for such registration type shall pay five dollars for the annual 31
6060 registration period] or a veteran, as defined in section 27-103, shall be 32
6161 exempt from the requirement to remit such fee. The provisions of this 33
6262 subsection shall not apply to any motor vehicle that is not self-34
6363 propelled or that is exempted from payment of a registration fee. This 35
6464 fee shall be identified as the "Passport to the Parks Fee" on any 36
6565 registration form provided by the commissioner. Payments collected 37
6666 pursuant to the provisions of this subsection shall be deposited in the 38
6767 Passport to the Parks account established pursuant to section 23-15h. 39
6868 The fee required by this subsection is in addition to any other fees 40
6969 prescribed by any other provision of this title for the registration of a 41
7070 motor vehicle. No part of the "Passport to the Parks Fee" shall be 42
7171 subject to a refund under subsection (aa) of section 14-49. 43
