Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective January 1, 2020) Each individual health 1 insurance policy providing coverage of the type specified in 2 subdivisions (1), (2), (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general 3 statutes delivered, issued for delivery, renewed, amended or 4 continued in this state on or after January 1, 2020, shall provide 5 coverage for: (1) Motorized wheelchairs, including, but not limited to, 6 used motorized wheelchairs; (2) repairs to motorized wheelchairs; and 7 (3) replacement batteries for motorized wheelchairs. 8 Sec. 2. (NEW) (Effective January 1, 2020) Each group health insurance 9 policy providing coverage of the type specified in subdivisions (1), (2), 10 (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general statutes delivered, 11 issued for delivery, renewed, amended or continued in this state on or 12 after January 1, 2020, shall provide coverage for: (1) Motorized 13 wheelchairs, including, but not limited to, used motorized 14 wheelchairs; (2) repairs to motorized wheelchairs; and (3) replacement 15 batteries for motorized wheelchairs. 16 Committee Bill No. 15 LCO No. 5495 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 January 1, 2020 New section Sec. 2 January 1, 2020 New section Statement of Purpose: To require health insurance coverage for motorized wheelchairs, including, but not limited to, used motorized wheelchairs, repairs to motorized wheelchairs and replacement batteries for motorized wheelchairs.
