AN ACT REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH TO 
ESTABLISH A WHOLESALE PRESCRIPTION DRUG IMPORTATION 
PROGRAM. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That title 19a of the general statutes be amended to require the 1 
Department of Public Health to establish a wholesale importation 2 
program to allow for the wholesale importation of prescription drugs 3 
from Canada, provided said department submits a request, on or 4 
before January 1, 2020, to the federal Department of Health and 5 
Human Services for certification of such program. 6 
Statement of Purpose:   
To ensure that people have options when purchasing high-cost 
prescription drugs by establishing a program to allow for the 
wholesale importation of prescription drugs from Canada.
