26 | 26 | service-connected pension benefits, including, but not limited to, the 3 | |
27 | 27 | basic pension, the Aid and Attendance benefit and the Housebound 4 | |
28 | 28 | benefit when determining income eligibility of any veteran or such 5 | |
29 | 29 | veteran's surviving spouse for certain Medicare state programs, and (2) 6 | |
30 | 30 | permit said commissioner to seek approval of an amendment to the 7 | |
31 | 31 | state Medicaid plan or a waiver from federal law, if necessary, to 8 | |
32 | 32 | exempt such benefits from income eligibility criteria as unreimbursed 9 | |
33 | 33 | medical expenses. 10 | |

35 | 35 | To require that pension benefits granted to certain veterans by the | |
36 | 36 | United States Department of Veterans Affairs be disregarded when | |
37 | 37 | determining income eligibility for certain state Medicare programs, as | |
38 | 38 | well as permit the Commissioner of Social Services to pursue | |
39 | 39 | exempting such benefits from income eligibility criteria as | |
40 | 40 | unreimbursed medical expenses. |
