AN ACT CONCERNING THE UTILIZATION OF GRANDPARENTS AS A 
CHILD PLACEMENT OPTION. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That chapter 319a of the general statutes be amended to require the 1 
Department of Children and Families to prioritize the use of 2 
grandparents as a child placement option in any matter in which a 3 
child is at risk of being placed with a foster parent. 4 
Statement of Purpose:   
To promote and enhance the use of grandparents as a child placement 
option when a child is at risk for being placed in foster care.
