22 | 21 | | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General |

23 | 22 | | Assembly convened: |

25 | 24 | | Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) On and after the effective 1 |
---|
26 | 25 | | date of this section, no school district or regional school district shall 2 |
---|
27 | 26 | | enter a contract for the purchase of any tray made from expanded 3 |
---|
28 | 27 | | polystyrene. Not later than October 1, 2019, each school district and 4 |
---|
29 | 28 | | regional school district shall develop a plan for discontinuing the use 5 |
---|
30 | 29 | | in such district of trays made from expanded polystyrene. Such plan 6 |
---|
31 | 30 | | shall require the district to discontinue such use not later than July 1, 7 |
---|
32 | 31 | | 2020. For purposes of this section, "expanded polystyrene" means 8 |
---|
33 | 32 | | blown polystyrene and expanded and extruded foams that are 9 |
---|
34 | 33 | | thermoplastic petrochemical materials utilizing a styrene monomer 10 |
---|
35 | 34 | | and processed by any number of techniques including, but not limited 11 |
---|
36 | 35 | | to, fusion of polymer spheres, injection molding, foam molding and 12 |
---|
37 | 36 | | extrusion-blown molding. 13 |

38 | 37 | | This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following |
---|
39 | 38 | | sections: |
