1818 AN ACT REQUIRING THE PUBLIC UTILITIES REGULATORY
1919 AUTHORITY TO STUDY SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
2121 Assembly convened:

2323 That the general statutes be amended to require the Public Utilities 1
2424 Regulatory Authority, in consultation with the Office of Consumer 2
2525 Counsel, to study social media platforms used by residents of the state 3
2626 and report the findings to the joint standing committee of the General 4
2727 Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to energy and 5
2828 technology. Such study shall include (1) a review of the state of 6
2929 competition among any such social media platforms, (2) a review of 7
3030 how such social media platforms treat advertisements for elections and 8
3131 candidates for public office, and (3) recommendations regarding the 9
3232 feasibility of regulating social media platforms. 10
3333 Statement of Purpose:
3434 To require the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, in consultation
3535 with the Office of Consumer Counsel, to study social media platforms.
