AN ACT INCREASING THE SALES TAX RATE AND DEDICATING THE 
ADDITIONAL REVENUE TO MUNICIPALITIES. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to increase the sales tax rate 1 
by one-half per cent, with the revenue generated by the additional one-2 
half per cent to be returned to the municipalities in which the sales 3 
take place, except that for sales occurring at retail establishments 4 
located in large regional shopping malls, the revenue generated by the 5 
additional one-half per cent that is attributable to such sales shall be 6 
distributed as follows: (1) Sixty per cent distributed to the municipality 7 
or municipalities in which the shopping mall is located, and (2) forty 8 
per cent distributed on a per capita basis to the municipality or 9 
municipalities contiguous to the municipality or municipalities in 10 
which the shopping mall is located. 11 
Statement of Purpose:   
To increase municipal revenue.
