AN ACT CONCERNING THE DEFENSE OF A PERSON'S HOME, 
MOTOR VEHICLE OR BUSINESS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 53a-20 of the general statutes be amended to provide 1 
that if a person believes that deadly physical force is necessary to 2 
prevent or terminate an unlawful entry by force into such person's 3 
dwelling, motor vehicle or place of business, or to prevent the 4 
commission of arson or a crime of violence by a trespasser, there shall 5 
be a rebuttable presumption that such belief was a reasonable belief.6 
Statement of Purpose:   
To establish a rebuttable presumption in a self-defense claim that, 
when a person believes it necessary to use deadly force to repel an 
intruder, such belief is a reasonable belief.
