2019 AN ACT ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE TO REVIEW VOLUNTARIS M

2221 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2524 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) There is established a task force 1
2625 to study ways to ensure that the Office of the Long-term Care 2
2726 Ombudsman has enough volunteers to reach out to nursing home 3
2827 residents and address complaints about their care. 4
2928 (b) The task force shall consist of the following members: 5
3029 (1) Two appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives, 6
3130 both of whom shall be residents' advocates appointed pursuant to 7
3231 section 17a-406 of the general statutes. 8
3332 (2) Two appointed by the president pro tempore of the Senate, both 9
3433 of whom shall be representatives of senior centers; 10
3534 (3) One appointed by the majority leader of the House of 11

41+(4) One appointed by the majority leader of the Senate; 13
4442 (5) One appointed by the minority leader of the House of 14

4745 (7) The State Ombudsman, or the State Ombudsman's designee; 17
4846 (8) The Commissioner of Rehabilitation Services, or the 18
4947 commissioner's designee; and 19
5048 (9) The executive director of the Commission on Women, Children 20
5149 and Seniors, or the executive director's designee. 21
5250 (c) Any member of the task force appointed under subdivision (3), 22
5351 (4), (5) or (6) of subsection (b) of this section may be a member of the 23
5452 General Assembly. 24
5553 (d) All appointments to the task force shall be made not later than 25
5654 thirty days after the effective date of this section. Any vacancy shall be 26
5755 filled by the appointing authority. 27
5856 (e) The speaker of the House of Representatives and the president 28
5957 pro tempore of the Senate shall select the chairpersons of the task force 29
6058 from among the members of the task force. Such chairpersons shall 30
6159 schedule the first meeting of the task force, which shall be held not 31
6260 later than sixty days after the effective date of this section. 32
6361 (f) The administrative staff of the joint standing committee of the 33
6462 General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to aging shall 34
6563 serve as administrative staff of the task force. 35
6664 (g) Not later than January 1, 2020, the task force shall submit a 36
6765 report on its findings and recommendations to the joint standing 37
6866 committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters 38
6967 relating to aging, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of 39
70-the general statutes. The task force shall terminate on the date that it 40
