1919 AN ACT CONCERNING A DISCOUNT FOR SENIOR CABLE TV

2424 Section 1. Section 16-331q of the general statutes is repealed and the 1
2525 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2019): 2
2626 [(a)] The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority shall not require a 3
2727 company issued a certificate of cable franchise authority to comply 4
2828 with any facility build-out requirements or provide community 5
2929 antenna television service or video service to any customer using any 6
3030 specific technology. 7
3131 [(b) The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority shall not impose any 8
3232 provision regulating rates charged by a community antenna television 9
3333 company holding a certificate of cable franchise authority, except as set 10
3434 forth in federal law.] 11
3535 Sec. 2. Subsection (a) of section 16-331v of the general statutes is 12
3636 repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 13

4444 (a) Except when otherwise required by federal law, a company 15
4545 issued a certificate of cable franchise authority shall inform the Public 16
4646 Utilities Regulatory Authority of any planned programming or rate 17
4747 changes not less than thirty days before implementing such changes 18
4848 unless (1) such changes are required by law to be made in less than 19
4949 thirty days, or (2) in appropriate circumstances where a shorter notice 20
5050 period is in the best interest of the company's subscribers. Except when 21
5151 otherwise required by federal law, the Public Utilities Regulatory 22
5252 Authority shall require a company issued a certificate of cable 23
5353 franchise authority to provide a discount of not more than ten per cent 24
5454 off the rate for basic service for any subscriber sixty-five years of age or 25
5555 older. 26
