1919 AN ACT CONCERNING CH OICE OF LAW.
2020 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2323 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2019) (a) Notwithstanding the 1
2424 provisions of section 42a-1-301 of the general statutes, the parties to 2
2525 any contract, agreement or undertaking, contingent or otherwise, in 3
2626 consideration of, or relating to any obligation arising out of a 4
2727 transaction with a value in the aggregate of not less than two hundred 5
2828 fifty thousand dollars, may agree that the law of this state shall govern 6
2929 their rights and duties in whole or in part, whether or not such 7
3030 contract, agreement or undertaking bears a reasonable relation to this 8
3131 state. 9
3232 (b) Subsection (a) of this section shall not apply to any contract, 10
3333 agreement or undertaking (1) for labor or personal services; or (2) 11
3434 relating to any transaction for personal, family or household services. 12
3535 (c) This section shall not be construed to limit or deny the 13
3636 enforcement of any provision respecting choice of law in any other 14
3737 contract, agreement or undertaking. 15

4444 Sec. 2. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2019) (a) Notwithstanding any 16
4545 provision of the general statutes that limits or affects the right of a 17
4646 person to maintain an action or proceeding, any person may maintain 18
4747 an action or proceeding against a foreign juridical entity, nonresident, 19
4848 or foreign state where the action or proceeding arises out of or relates 20
4949 to any contract, agreement or undertaking for which a choice of the 21
5050 law of this state has been made, in whole or in part, pursuant to the 22
5151 provisions of section 1 of this act and which (1) is a contract, agreement 23
5252 or undertaking, contingent or otherwise, in consideration of, or 24
5353 relating to any obligation arising out of a transaction with a value in 25
5454 the aggregate of not less than five hundred thousand dollars; and (2) 26
5555 contains a provision or provisions whereby such foreign juridical 27
5656 entity or nonresident agrees to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts 28
5757 of this state. 29
5858 (b) This section shall not be construed to affect the enforcement of 30
5959 any provision respecting choice of forum in any other contract, 31
6060 agreement or undertaking. 32
