1919 AN ACT ESTABLISHING A TASK FORCE TO STUDY OPTIONS
2020 AVAILABLE TO PROTECT DISABLED VETERANS' R ETIREMENT.
2121 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General

2424 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) There is established a task force 1
2525 to study options available to protect disabled veterans from predatory 2
2626 practices concerning their retirement. 3
2727 (b) The task force shall consist of the following members: 4
2828 (1) Two appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives; 5
2929 (2) Two appointed by the president pro tempore of the Senate; 6
3030 (3) One appointed by the majority leader of the House of 7

3232 (4) One appointed by the majority leader of the Senate; 9
3333 (5) One appointed by the minority leader of the House of 10

4040 (6) One appointed by the minority leader of the Senate; 12
4141 (7) The Commissioner of Veterans Affairs, or the commissioner's 13

4343 (8) The Insurance Commissioner, or the commissioner's designee; 15

4545 (9) Two persons appointed by the Governor. 17
4646 (c) Any member of the task force appointed under subdivision (1), 18
4747 (2), (3), (4), (5) or (6) of subsection (b) of this section may be a member 19
4848 of the General Assembly. 20
4949 (d) All appointments to the task force shall be made not later than 21
5050 thirty days after the effective date of this section. Any vacancy shall be 22
5151 filled by the appointing authority. 23
5252 (e) The speaker of the House of Representatives and the president 24
5353 pro tempore of the Senate shall select the chairpersons of the task force 25
5454 from among the members of the task force. Such chairpersons shall 26
5555 schedule the first meeting of the task force, which shall be held not 27
5656 later than sixty days after the effective date of this section. 28
5757 (f) The administrative staff of the joint standing committee of the 29
5858 General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to insurance 30
5959 shall serve as administrative staff of the task force. 31
6060 (g) Not later than January 1, 2020, the task force shall submit a 32
6161 report on its findings and recommendations to the joint standing 33
6262 committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters 34
6363 relating to insurance, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-35
6464 4a of the general statutes. The task force shall terminate on the date 36
6565 that it submits such report or January 1, 2020, whichever is later. 37
6666 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
